Attività: L’artista singaporese Gey Pin Ang conduce una ricerca in parallelo nella propria pratica teatrale e nel Tai Chi, per trovare una fluida via creativa vitale priva di sforzo nel lavoro del performer. Introdurrà gli artisti partecipanti alla sessione ad una sorgente naturale interna attraverso diverse fasi di lavoro pratico. Il Tai Chi è un’antica tecnica corporea cinese, riserva vitale interna al nostro corpo, un ‘piccolo universo’. In questa sessione, Gey Pin Ang guiderà i partecipanti verso lo sviluppo di una coscienza del processo creativo che integra le capacità fisiche e vocali del performer. I partecipanti saranno guidati alla scoperta di una modalità di lavoro fluida, con intenzione, vitalità, priva di sforzo, in contatto con i partner di lavoro, dettagliata e chiara. Gli elementi sono ispirati principalmente dal Tai Chi: dalla comprensione dei principi di questa tecnica antica fino alle sue potenzialità nel nostro percorso creativo come artisti. Il lavoro vocale, si centra sulla costante focalizzazione del nostro ascolto in sintonia con il nostro cuore. Ogni partecipante proporrà e svilupperà un lavoro creativo individuale in relazione al proprio processo di apprendimento, nello spirito di questa antica tecnica. Ang investigherà insieme agli artisti come un lavoro creativo si accende, vive e fluisce nella nostra qualità vivente, con libertà, portandoci più vicino alla Creatività, nel suo senso originario.
Partecipanti: Il lavoro si svolgerà in lingua inglese. Potranno essere ammessi alla Sessione 10 partecipanti, per un lavoro intensivo di 6 giorni consecutivi.

Activity: Singaporean theatre artiste Ang Gey Pin conducts a research within her theatre practice in parallel to her training in Tai Chi; intending to find a creative way of non-effort, flow and life in the work of a perfomer. She will introduce to fellow artists, a natural source within our body through steps of practical working. Tai Chi; an ancient Chinese body technique, vital reservoir within our body, a ‘little universe’. In this worksession, Ang Gey Pin will guide participants towards developing an awareness to the creative process that integrates performer’s physical and vocal capacity. The participants will be guided to discover a mode of working-- with flow, intention, aliveness, non-effort, with contacts to working partners, details, and clarity. Elements are drawn mainly from Tai Chi; from understanding the principles of this ancient technique to its potentiality in our creative way as artists. The vocal work centres on constant sharpening of our hearing in attune to our heart. Each participant will propose and create an individual creative work in relation to their learning, in the spirit to this ancient technique. Ang will investigate along with the artists into how a creative work engages, lives and flows within our vital life, in a liberating way; leading us nearer to ‘creativity’, in its original sense.
Participants: The working language will be English. The Worksession will be open to 10 participants, for intensive work during 6 consecutive days.

Gey Pin Ang
In a seemingly paradoxical trajectory, Singapore artiste Ang Gey Pin works away from home country to discover the roots of her Chinese heritage. As artistic director of Theatre OX (1995-2007) in Singapore, she led the group’s research into Chinese performative elements and performances in unconventional spaces. Ang was a member of the Workcenter of Jerzy Grotowski and Thomas Richards (Italy) for nearly a decade, performing lead roles in the Workcenter’s One breath left (UBU Special Award, Italy) and Dies Irae: My Preposterous Theatrum Interioris Show. Working since 2006 as an independent artist, she has presented works, acted as artist-in-residence and pedagogue at the Grotowski Institute (Poland), the University of Kent at Canterbury (United Kingdom), Wesleyan University and Yale University (United States), among other renowned institutions. Ang has created and performed to audiences in Europe, Asia, North and South America. Some phases of her work are featured in scholarly journals and books dedicated to intercultural theatre, including Paul Allain’s “After Grotowski: The New Generation” (New Theatre Quarterly 18.1, 2002) and Cláudia Tatinge Nascimento’s Crossing Cultural Borders Through the Actor’s Work: Foreign Bodies of Knowledge (Routledge, 2008). Works she created and performed include: By the Way (2006), Winter Never Come Spring Already Arrived (2007), Feast of You Shen (2008, 2009). |
